Privacy Policy

Nija processes the minimum personal information needed to provide the service: your email or phone (for sign-in), usage and billing records, and the prompts you send to the models you select. We do not sell personal information.

Data residency and sovereignty

Nija is hosted in-region on AWS af-south-1 (Cape Town), the only African cloud region, so your data stays on the continent. Account and billing data are stored in-region. Inference may be routed to the provider you select; native African models are a true in-region guarantee. You control Zero-Data-Retention and "never train on my data" under Settings, Data Sovereignty.

Data protection

We process personal information lawfully. Because Nija is hosted in South Africa, the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA, 2013) governs our processing, and we honour the same data-subject rights, access, correction, and deletion, for every user across Africa. You may request changes at privacy@nija.africa.

Retention

Billing records are retained as required by law. Conversations are retained until you delete them.
